December 17, 2021 Wow! What a great year for reading. So many new books came out, and I revisited quite a few old ones as well. I had a great time exploring so many different stores with my friends, family, book clubs, and on my own. Some stories left lasting imprints on me that I will cherish forever, and some brought me a simple but perfect moment in time. Some I DNFed, and some I read in a single sitting. As always, every story I read changed me in some way for the better. So, here it is—my 2021 Year in Books: TitleAuthorGenreLight From Uncommon StarsRyka AokiScience FictionThe Grishaverse:Shadow and Bone Siege and StormRuin and Rising Six of CrowsCrooked KingdomKing of ScarsRule of WolvesLeigh BardugoFantasyThe Language of Thorns Leigh Bardugo FantasyLilith’s Brood: DawnOctavia E. I was able to subscribe to a few, while others I picked up as the fancy struck me. In these magazines, I read dozens and dozens of beautiful, award-winning stories by some of the best authors of our time. I highly encourage you to check them out yourself: TitleFormatGenreAfter Dinner ConversationDigitalPhilosophyApex MagazineDigital/OnlineSpeculativeDaily Science FictionOnlineSpeculativeDiabolical PlotsOnlineSpeculativeEscape Artists:PodCastleEscape PodCast of WondersAudio/OnlineSpeculativeThe Magazine of Fantasy & Science FictionPrintSpeculativeFantasy MagazineDigital/OnlineSpeculativeFiresideOnlineSpeculativeFlash 405OnlineLiterary/SpeculativeFlash Fiction OnlineDigital/OnlineLiterary/Speculative F(r)iction Print/DigitalLiterary/SpeculativeStrange HorizonsDigital/OnlineSpeculativeUncannyDigital/OnlineSpeculative And of course on top of all that I read oodles of short stories, fanfics, poems, and works-in-progress that are too numerous to list here. 2021 was a fantastic year for reading, and 2022 is looking to be even better!
